ACR Voted One of the Top 5 Workplaces in Minnesota

ACR was named one of the top five large companies in Minnesota once again in the StarTribune’s 2017 Top Workplace survey. This is the fourth year ACR employees have participated in the survey, and all four years ACR has been one of the top five large companies as voted by employees. ACR also received a Special Award for New Ideas for its  employee suggestion program called “Open Sourcing” which encourages collaborative thinking.

What makes ACR such a great company to work for? Here’s some inside scoop from  a new ACR employee.

A Testimonial on Being a New Employee at ACR, by Kelsey Vaillancourt

One of the first things I saw in the ACR Homes administrative offices, hanging on the wall next to me as I waited for my interview, was that ACR Homes has been voted the top workplace in Minnesota in both 2014 and 2016. After a little research, I found that this vote was done through the StarTribune by employees themselves. I also discovered that being voted the #1 workplace for large employers twice is unprecedented!

Being a new employee is always a little scary. However, knowing that my coworkers enjoy working for ACR was a comfort to me as I started my direct care training. I was also fortunate enough to be chosen to participate in the internship program, which will be a great experience to put on my resume as I apply to graduate schools.

“I can see why employees have such high regard for ACR”

Although I’m new, I can already see why employees have such high regard for ACR. The management has made sure that my new employee experience was not confusing or overwhelming. I met with a human resources employee on my orientation day and we scheduled my direct care training together, making sure that it would go at a pace I was comfortable with. I have also had the opportunity to meet with all the supervisors and coordinators that I will work with, which ensured that any questions I had were answered.

When I first saw that StarTribune article hanging on the wall in the office, I admit that I thought employees enjoyed working for ACR Homes because providing care for people with disabilities and the elderly is a rewarding experience. However, the company goes beyond giving its employees rewarding opportunities. There is work being done here, right from the start, to make sure new employees have positive experiences before ever setting foot into a resident’s home.
